Elderly care in Cambodia

We are preparing a social enterprise to improve care for older people in Cambodia

Cambodia is experiencing rapid demographic aging. With over 1.5 million elderly citizens (10% of the population) today, the number is projected to reach 1.9 million (11%) by 2030 and 5 million (23%) by 2050. Traditional family-based care structures are fracturing due to urbanization, the entry of women into the workforce, and evolving social norms, leaving many elderly vulnerable.

Sereypheap Elder Care addresses this crisis by providing culturally grounded, professional care through trained, NSSF-registered workers. We replace informal, often exploitative arrangements with scheduled, contract-based services that ensure dignity for workers and reliability for families. Our services enable modern Cambodian families to uphold their filial duties while securing better care for their elders.

Introducing Sereypheap Elder Care – Phnom Penh

Cambodia is changing. Families are changing. And quietly, the number of older people who need reliable, professional care is growing fast.

Sereypheap Elder Care (SEC) is a new social enterprise that brings something new to Cambodia:
high-quality, culturally appropriate day care and home care for older people, built with Cambodian families, for Cambodian realities.

Our plan is simple, but ambitious:

✔️ Open the first elderly day-care center in Phnom Penh
✔️ Provide professional home-care services for families who need support
✔️ Train and certify Cambodian care workers, turning informal domestic work into respected, fairly paid professions
✔️ Combine social impact with a financially sustainable business model

We believe good elder care is not a luxury — it is a foundation for dignity, family stability, and social trust.

📍 For families in Phnom Penh: peace of mind, safety, and respectful care
🌏 For Cambodian children working abroad: reliable support for parents at home
🤝 For investors & partners: a scalable, first-mover opportunity in a fast-growing sector

Cambodia’s eldercare sector is at a tipping point. We are building early, carefully, and with long-term commitment.

Our financial sustainability is underpinned by the assumption that families will commit to monthly care packages at three tiers: Basic ($250), Standard ($350), and Premium (>$450).  In addition to family contracts for home care, our daycare centers contribute an estimated 13% of total revenues over the first five years. Each center generates predictable monthly income from regular clients while simultaneously serving as a powerful promotional channel. Families often first experience professional elder care through daycare services, where they can see the quality, structure, and reliability of our approach. This exposure encourages many households to adopt our home care packages, making daycare both a revenue stream and a driver of client growth.
