Elderly care in Cambodia

We are preparing a social enterprise to improve care for older people in Cambodia

Cambodia is experiencing rapid demographic aging. With over 1.5 million elderly citizens (10% of the population) today, the number is projected to reach 1.9 million (11%) by 2030 and 5 million (23%) by 2050. Traditional family-based care structures are fracturing due to urbanization, the entry of women into the workforce, and evolving social norms, leaving many elderly vulnerable.

Sereypheap Elder Care addresses this crisis by providing culturally grounded, professional care through trained, NSSF-registered workers. We replace informal, often exploitative arrangements with scheduled, contract-based services that ensure dignity for workers and reliability for families. Our services enable modern Cambodian families to uphold their filial duties while securing better care for their elders.

We have prepared a business plan, and we are talking to partners in Cambodia to get started in early 2026. Our financial sustainability is underpinned by the assumption that families will commit to monthly care packages at three tiers: Basic ($250), Standard ($350), and Premium ($450).  In addition to family contracts for home care, our daycare centers contribute an estimated 13% of total revenues over the first five years. Each center generates predictable monthly income from regular clients while simultaneously serving as a powerful promotional channel. Families often first experience professional elder care through daycare services, where they can see the quality, structure, and reliability of our approach. This exposure encourages many households to adopt our home care packages, making daycare both a revenue stream and a driver of client growth.
